Will Android Smash the iPhone?

After reading, "Will Android Smash the iPhone?", I have many questions to be answered before i believe all the hype for the Android in the next couple of years. While they make these predictions for the Android's extensive growth over the next couple of years. What makes them believe that the phone didn't just make this extreme rise in market share because it was the next new thing? The thing with the iPhone is that it has been selling in those kinds of numbers for the last few years and with new versions coming out every so often it is only increasing the number of people with them.
While it may be true that the Android will control the market in the next couple years, Apple has proven time and time again you don't have to always have the largest market share to ultimately have the best product on the market. I believe though in no way will the Android "smash" the iPhone. One of the main reasons behind this is that their are way too many loyal Apple customers that will continue to use anything Apple regardless of the other products that may or may not have the same functions. Just look at the Apple TV, what does it do now that is better than the TV you already have? It really doesn't do anything too special yet but look at the amounts of people that bought it anyways.
Overall i am not yet jumping ship with my iPhone, I still believe it to be the superior product in the smart phone world and until i am bluntly shown that i am wrong i will stick by that opinion.

  1. What I always thought was funny about the IT industry is that companies are continually searching for the next new thing. Oftentimes, others beat them to the punch and they are forced out of the industry. Granted, many other areas of business are like that, but few go about it in the overtly cutthroat manner that IT seems to.
